Dark Horse recently revived the old Gold Key property Turok, Dinosaur Hunter. He was a comic book character first, but he's perhaps best known these days for the video games.

Anyway, it's a Native American fighting dinosaurs. How can you go wrong with that, right? Two issues in and Jim Shooter's doing some wacky stuff mixing and matching the people of different geographies and historical periods, which the patchwork setting of the series provides him ample opportunity for.
So far, the major antagonist of the stories has been the Aztec ruler Maxtla. He's a real world historical figure, an Aztec ruler was killed by rival city-states in the 1400s. In the world of "Turok," he actually faked his death with an impersonator.

"Actually, I mispoke. I meant three twenties and three."
"...You three. Un-die."
"..."
"Crap."

It's not really evident in these panels, but the city of the Panther People, where the Turok and Norwegian lady scenes are taking place, is actually this giant complex of huts and platforms built along the lengths of miles-high trees, with ladders everywhere to link everything up. It's this city of mega-treehouses, like something Jack Kirby'd cook up.
